The success of the Long Khanh Campaign thwarted the enemy’s “search and hold” strategy, dealt a severe blow to their “Vietnamisation” scheme, and forced the enemy into a strategically passive position. The valuable lessons on ambush artistry derived from the Campaign remain relevant and should continue to be studied and creatively applied to the cause of national defence today.

In coordination with other theatres during the Winter – Spring Strategic Offensive of 1953 – 1954, we launched a surprise campaign in Central – Lower Laos, inflicting major losses to the enemy, forcing them to disperse their mobile reserve forces in multiple directions. This is a small-scale campaign conducted in a strategic area, far from our logistics bases; however, with the employment of the art of “striking at one point to destroy reinforcements”, we were able to achieve very high combat efficiency, contributing to the ultimate victory of our Resistance War against French Colonialism

It can be affirmed that in the history of our artillery operations, one of the most important factors to achieve victory is effectively addressing the issue of manoeuvrability of forces and firepower, timely adjusting the battle array, providing effective fire support to infantry, tanks, and handling situations to fulfil assigned tasks. With a clear understanding of this issue, the Operational Command focused on effectively addressing issues related to mobility (mobility routes, vehicles, artillery, repairment, recovery, and the organisation of command coordination, and maintenance and supply), allowing artillery units to manoeuver to their firing positions, ensuring safety, secrecy, and precise timing.
