Despite logistical difficulties, our troops participating in the Operation achieved high combat performance, thanks to the creative application of the unique military tactic of “point encirclement for reinforcement ambush.” This success contributed to the failure of the enemy’s plan to replace US forces with the Saigon regime’s regular troops on the battlefield

In coordination with other theatres during the Winter – Spring Strategic Offensive of 1953 – 1954, we launched a surprise campaign in Central – Lower Laos, inflicting major losses to the enemy, forcing them to disperse their mobile reserve forces in multiple directions. This is a small-scale campaign conducted in a strategic area, far from our logistics bases; however, with the employment of the art of “striking at one point to destroy reinforcements”, we were able to achieve very high combat efficiency, contributing to the ultimate victory of our Resistance War against French Colonialism

Over half a century ago, to realise a strategic diversion action in preparation for the General Offensive and Uprising of 1968 throughout the South, we launched a large-scale combined arms offensive campaign at the Khe Sanh - Route 9 and achieved a great victory. The Campaign left behind valuable experiences in military art, among which the distinct feature was the art of encircling and cutting off the enemy.
