In the process of our national development under the Party’s leadership, besides a variety of sincere comments and suggestions contributed by people from all walks of life, there are still controversial ideas that go against the Party’s guidelines, State’s laws and policies, and people’s legitimate aspirations. More dangerously, people with those controversial ideas consider themselves as someone with a sense of responsibility towards the country, but in fact, what they are doing is to prompt acts of sabotage against the Party and the current legitimate regime, so those should be condemned and refuted.

Ironically, while they granted themselves a duty to care for national fortune and development, they called for the release of lawbreakers and people who perturbed social order and people’s living, disturbing political security, social order and safety. It is sad that among people taking part in reactionary organizations, there are people who once devoted themselves to the cause of revolution but now lose their stance, and being incited by the opponents. It is of great sorrow that there are also a number of young people and students who were born and grow up in peace and national independence, provided with a large number of opportunities and favourable conditions to work and study also support the hostile forces. While they should have had enthusiasm about devoting themselves to the cause of building their country, they misinterpreted the so-called “responsibility for nation”, leading to lunatic acts of sabotage. It is worth mentioning the so-called “Patriotic Youth Group”, by its nature, a reactionary organization founded in Thailand by Nguyen Thien Thanh. It aims at making use of youth’s enthusiasm to lure them to oppose the Party and State in the field of human rights. Another sabotaging group is the so-called “Third Coffee Meeting” whose target is to “rouse” the domestic human rights movement and to “impress” on foreign organizations and individuals opposing Vietnam. To add “weight” to the Third Human Rights Coffee Meeting, reactionary elements used “bitcoin” to invite a number of people to the meeting and propagate utopian ideals of their plot. However, the plot was laid bare and the mask of the “democrats and human rights activists” was thrown off as a result. The truth lies in their actions aiming at deceiving gullible people in order to achieve notoriety for themselves.

In May, 2014 when China brazenly and illegally placed Haiyang Shiyou 981 oil rig in Vietnam’s waters, Vietnamese people at home and abroad held meetings and demonstrations in peace to express their outrage,  discontentment, and protest against this violation which caused tensions in the East Sea. Meanwhile, the reactionary groups, namely “Group of Free Citizens”, “Civilian Social Forum”, “the League of the Independent Vietnamese Writers”, “Brotherhood for Democracy”, “Former Vietnamese Prisoners of Conscience”, “Vietnam Path Movement”, “Vietnam Political Prisoner Frendship Association”, “No-U Hanoi”, “No-U Saigon” made use of the situation to get them fame and benefit. Taking opportunity of Vietnamese patriotic meetings and demonstrations, they distorted our government’s measures to defend our sovereignty in the East Sea. Furthermore, they issued the so-called “call for demonstrations” to incite “opportunists” to sabotage, perturb domestic security and safety, damaging Vietnam’s image in the international arena. More dangerously, they included a call for a struggle to release “citizens who have been imprisoned for their patriotism and opposition to China”. Most people already know the truth about these citizens and the aftermath of their actions. After the riots which caused damages to many factories and companies in industrial parks and export processing zones, our Government had to pay out hundreds of billion VND to compensate enterprises for their losses, thereby damaging the image of a peaceful Vietnam and its friendly people at the time we are in urgent need for international support to construct and develop our country, and struggle to defend our territorial sovereignty over land and sea. The above-mentioned unrest revealed the nature of these groups. It is not for the sake of patriotism and responsibility for the country but taking advantage of our people’s most sacred thing called patriotism to incite them to act wrongly.

There exist advantages and also a lot of challenges, difficulties in our Party and people’s cause of building and safeguarding the Fatherland. The highest objective of country construction defined by the Communist Party of Vietnam is to bring about a well-off, independent, and happy life for people and vigorous and sustainable development for the country. More than ever before, our Party, State, and Government‘s aspiration is to call for Vietnamese people at home and abroad to bring into full play their energies to construct the Fatherland by proposing measures, and contributing their knowledge and wealth. However, we strongly oppose hostile and wrong actions and viewpoints that go against our country and people’s legitimate rights and interest.

Everything will be fairly judged by history. Therefore, people who proclaimed themselves “democrats” , “human rights activists”, and to be “responsible” for their nation, Party, and people, but in fact, made use of ordinary people’s trust and sentiments to “earn” themselves fame and individual benefit, damage country’s achievements will never reach their target. They will have to adapt themselves to the nation’s prevailing current for common sense.

Coc Vu
