I. Participating in economic development and defence consolidation – responsibility and enthusiasm.

West of Nghe An is the hedge of the country, the strategic area both in the previous liberation wars and in the cause of national construction and defence nowadays. With its unique geographical traits, West of Nghe An holds potentialities for developing forest economy, eco-tourist, mining, cement production, hydro-power and border economy.

Ethnics People in the region are patriotic, hard working, creative in labour and production. They are united and have a strong belief in the leadership of the Party, the management of the State and local authorities and party executive committees at all levels. They ceaselessly strive to overcome hardship to build their hometown prosperous and beautiful. However, due to natural and historical conditions, there are still limitations in the exploitation and promotion the regional potentialities which badly affect its economic development, and defence and security consolidation. For this reason, “building the West of Nghe An comprehensively strong is both a demand  and aspiration of the peoples in the region and a mission of paramount importance for the cause of socio-economic development, ensuring defence and security in the long term for not only the province but also the whole northern central region. This task is drawing attention of all branches, sectors and forces of the province, including the activeness of the provincial armed forces.

Being born from the people, fighting for the people, armed forces of Nghe An province have long established a close relation with the people. They have actively joined hands in building the area strong both in the war time and in the present cause of national construction and defence; and considered this not only their function and mission but also a manifestation of the “Uncle Ho soldier” virtue and tradition.

The provincial armed forces always pay attention to propagation and education to raise the all-round awareness of the people and cadres and party members. They have proposed to the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee guidelines and measures for economic development associated with defence and security consolidation in the region; encouraging all organizations, forces, cadres and troops to actively engage in local activities. They focus on collaborating with functional agencies, party committees, authorities of Nghe An’s western districts to screen and get an insight of the area to set out and propose to the provincial and local leaders plans and mechanisms for combination between economic development and defence consolidation; setting out goals and objectives for defence mission and eco-social development in each locality in accordance with the overall development plan of the province. With the criteria toward the grassroots, and promoting “Uncle Ho soldier” tradition, the provincial armed forces has been active in building projects for social-economic development in combination with defence and security consolidation; proactive in assisting poor households in the West of Nghe An to change to new farm products, facilitate production, eradicate hunger, alleviate poverty and build new style rural areas. Notably, they have actively and proactively implemented a number of methods, mobilized troops, military equipment and vehicles; stayed with and work with ethnic people in the area. This has contributed to building  the West of Nghe An developed in economy, rich in culture, stable in politics and society, and strong in defence and security.
