In recent years, with the high mission requirements of building the Army, enhancing the national defence and safeguarding the Homeland, Tank Brigade 201 (under the Tank Armour Corps) has been invested synchronously and comprehensively with both materials and new equipment and weapons. This is the suitable conditions for the Brigade to improve its general quality and fighting ability. However, the process of mission implementation has issued the Brigade many difficulties and challenges due to the fact that the staff is frequently changed, many soldiers are quite old with unequally professional knowledge which is left behind the development of weapons and facilities; the materials, budget and fuels are limited; the training and exercise grounds are narrowed, etc. According to this reality, the Brigade’s party committee and commands have focused on the conclusive and synchronous direction and leadership on solutions in order to enhance the breakthroughs; improve the quality of training, combat readiness, making the ground for the unit’s overall strength and fighting capability to meet the mission requirements in the new situation.
First of all, with the view of “renovation for development”, the Brigade’s party committee has closely followed the reality; thoroughly grasp the resolutions, directions, orders and guidelines on the military training, especially the Conclusion No. 60-KL/QUTW, dated 18/01/2019 by the Central Military Commission on continuously implementing the Resolution No. 765-NQ/QUTW; the Resolution No. 438-NQ/ĐU, dated 06/01/2013 by the Arm’s party committee on “Improving the training quality in the period of 2013-2020 and beyond” in order to issuing the special resolution on the leadership of the training. In which, it has been clearly classified with specific targets and solutions aiming to renovate 04 basic contents: thought and self-awareness of training tasks; mechanism of training direction, management and operation; training contents, organisation and methods; training support. In the implementation process, together with asking offices and units to include in their resolutions, plans and guidance, the Brigade has selected some units to be examples on their renovated contents which were suitable with each unit’s features and tasks, making the basis for the wide application in the Brigade. At the same time, the Brigade has widely informed all cadres and soldiers so that they could firmly comprehend the meanings of the training renovation, advantages and disadvantages of the task; consequently to unify the thought and actions, promote the roles and responsibility of each group and individual, especially the all-level executive committees and commands in the process of implementation. The Brigade has regularly examined and rightly evaluated the real situation, pointed out the limitations, causes and responsibility of each group and individual in the leadership, direction and organisation the implementation; strengthened the resolutions to bring into play the roles of executive committees and commands, especially the staff offices in the implementation from the resolutions on examination and investigation to the summaries. Limitations and weaknesses have been pointed out and solved through the annual inspections on the training, combat readiness at all levels. Together with the inspection, the Brigade has requested offices and units to consider their training results as the standards to classify the party cells, party members and remark, schedule, appoint, assign and exchange cadres. Consequently, the Brigade’s training quality has been continuously improved year after year.

The training preparation is one of the important contents, directly deciding the quality and results of combat training in all units. Bearing this in mind, the Brigade has actively done the complete and thorough training preparation to meet the requirements for training and combat readiness. Together with bringing into play the internal strength, full and timely preparation of plans, lesson plans, training models, materials and training ground, the Brigade has paid attention to further training on cadres’ organisation methodology, especially the ones directly being in charge of the training process. Annually, before doing the training, the Brigade examines and evaluates instructors’ knowledge and skills, making the basis to build suitable training plans for each participant category. To carry out the defined plans, the Brigade requests the department chiefs of Administration, Politics, Logistics and Techniques to directly inspect their units’ training results and note down in the emulation notebooks; at the same time, discover problems from which both instructors and learners need to learn in order to advise the Brigade’s Party Committee and Command to figure out the policies and solutions for better training in the next periods. Noticeably, the approval of the military subjects’ lesson plans in the real situations and the political subjects’ lesson plans in the politics teaching groups has been seriously conducted by the Brigade every week by appointing officers in each level to attend, evaluate and remark the lesson plans approval’s results for each instructor. In 2022, the Brigade organised 02 training courses for 156 cadres and evaluated 18 newly graduated cadres with the result of 100% passes and over 95% being good and excellent. Up to now, all the Brigade’s cadres have gained enough knowledge and skills to meet their levels’ training requirements.
Together with its good preparation, the Brigade has enhanced the renovation of training contents, organisation and methods to be practical with the tasks, plans, operational subjects and the organisation, weapons and equipment. Thoroughly grasping the viewpoints, targets and leading motto on renovating and improving the training quality according to the Resolution No. 765 - NQ/QUTW, the Brigade has attentively led and directed offices and units to drastically renovate the training contents and methods in the ways of: actively applying the information technology, simulation technology; closely following 3 viewpoints, 8 principles, 6 combinations and the “basic, practical and solid” training motto; taking the battlefields as training ground; taking the tactical training as the centre, the technical training as the basis, in which, improving the weak and new contents posed by the reality. Noticeably, in recent years, just when receiving new weapons and equipment, the Brigade has founded the instructor groups of cadres and soldiers who have been trained in Russia to research and build the system of lesson plans and specific training programs for the forces equipped with new weapons and equipment. In order to gain high effectiveness, the Brigade has directed all units to organise their training from simple to more complicated levels, from individual techniques to crews’ combination according to the process: teaching the theories and training simulation and “cold” practice on vehicles, then practicing on vehicles. For theories teaching, the Brigade has applied the method of giving lessons combined with realia, at the same time, enhanced the IT application, exploited the simulation software, PowerPoint program to improve learners’ visual and acquiring ability.
Together with that, the Brigade has paid attention to renovating and improving the quality of military exercises, competitions at all levels, boosting the knowledge and combat ability for the brigade. In order to achieve that target, the Brigade has directed offices and units to bring into play the responsibility, actively research and complete the contents and requirements of the Arm’s level Competition of “Excellent tank crews” and the annual International Army Games when organising all-level contests and competitions. On that basis, the Brigade has made plans to focus on key contents, new issues, weak points; firmly prevent the expression of being fearful of hardship, the “achievement disease” in training, exercises, contests and competitions. All offices and units have well educated and made soldiers understand the aims and meanings of these exercises, contests and competitions in order to build their responsibility and motivation in carrying out their tasks. They have also organised further training courses for all participants on difficult topics to make the synchronicity and unity. The Brigade has maintained the work of summary and gained experience from limitations and insufficiencies related to the contents and methods of training, exercises, contests and competitions; timely awarded groups and individuals who gained achievements, making the wide and ebullient atmosphere. With its drastic and synchronous solutions, the Brigade has gained many high achievements in all-level contests and competitions; organised tactical exercises with live firing from platoon to battalion-level, combined exercises with the infantry divisions of the Military Region No. 1, Corps No. 2 with goof results and in top secret. Especially, in 2019, with the main forces of cadres and soldiers, the Brigade attended the International Army Games and won the silver prize; and, in 2020, won the gold prize in group 2, ranked 9/16 attending countries, entering group 1; in 2021, ranked 9/19, successfully upholding in group 1; in 2022, played in the semi-final competition, ranked the 2nd of destroying the targets after Russia.
The above-mentioned results and experiences are considered the firm basis for the Tank Brigade 201 to successfully implement its training missions in the next time, greatly contributing to the improvement of the general quality and combat strength to meet the requirements for the mission of safeguarding the Homeland in the new situation.
