After two years implementing the movement “Promoting traditions, devoting talents, deserving to be Uncle Ho soldiers” launched by the Executive Committee of the Central Military Commission (CMC), the Division 301 (under the Hanoi High Command) has seen comprehensively positive changes in all aspects of operations, stimulating each cadre and troop to accomplish their tasks.

As a unit responsible for  protecting the capital city, since our inception, under the leadership and direction of the CMC, the Ministry of National Defence, directly the Hanoi High Command and its Party executive committee and the support of party committee, authority and people of the locality, the division has overcome all hardships and challenges and accomplished all assigned tasks making up its tradition of “endlessly loyal, resolutely united, closely connected with the people, win once deployed” contributing to enriching the revolutionary nature and victorious tradition of the capital heroic armed forces. This is an important precondition for the division to effectively carry out the above mentioned movement.

Fully aware of the importance of the movement, as soon as it was launched by the executive committee of the CMC, the division commanders have focus their leadership and direction over the implementation with a number of realistic and effective methods. Basing on the Directive 778-CT/QUTW of the executive committee of the CMC and the Plan 191/KH-CT of the Hanoi High Command on carrying out the movement, party executive committee and commanders of the division have issued their leading resolution, made and passed on its action plan to subordinate units to realize. Main tasks of the movement have been defined as: enhancing the political steadfastness, morals and lifestyle for cadres and troops; attaching importance to the task fulfillment, words associated with effective actions; strictly observing the law of the State, disciplines of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and regulations of the unit; resolutely countering irresponsibility, bureaucracy, degraded lifestyle. In addition, the division has also screened, supplemented criteria and standards for studying and following Ho Chi Minh moral example in accordance with functions and missions of each unit, creating an exalted spirit of emulation through out the whole division right from the early days of the movement.

To create a perceptive change for implementing the movement, the division always pays attention to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of political education to all kinds of learners with various contents and methods with a focus on educating the division’s tradition to arouse troops’ pride of being a soldier of the capital city and their solidarity and support for each other in daily life as well as in accomplishing their tasks. The most notable change during the implementation of the movement is shown through the training, combat readiness to protect firmly the capital city. Accordingly, prior to each training course, the division brief thoroughly directives and resolution of upper level on training and make careful preparation for this mission. Training is done thoroughly, strictly followed the program and the principle of “fundamental, practical, and steady”. To ensure the spillover effect for the movement, units through out the division always speed up emulation drives in training with a number of effective models and methods.

Together with training, the division also strictly maintain combat readiness in accordance with the Order 285/CL-TL of the Commander of the Hanoi High Command. The division has actively supplemented and completed its system of documents and practiced combat plans; coordinated with other forces in the city to protect important events of the country and of the VPA successfully.

Promoting the tradition of self-reliance, the division has done well logistics and technical support, making the movement even more meaningful in all aspects of operation. Accordingly, movements and drives of the logistics technical sectors have been carried out carefully and effectively. Besides, the division’s troops have also joined hands with local people in building new style rural areas, in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, in disaster relief, search and rescue, etc, thereby promoting the tradition of “Uncle Ho’s soldier and the soldier of capital city” in people’s heart and mind.
