Di An town, Binh Duong province, is regarded as the gateway of Ho Chi Minh City to Central provinces and Central Highlands. Over the past year, alongside the task of socio-economic development, the Party Committees and the authorities of Di An at all levels have focused on carrying out military, defence tasks. Among which, defence and security education work is a central task.

To improve the quality of defence and security education, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Di An Town have frequently enhanced capabilities of leadership and direction of party committees and authorities at all levels, at the same time mobilized the whole political system to participate in the work. Annually, Di An’s Party Committee and the People’s Committee release resolution, set out measures, and assign tasks to organs, organizations and wards. Military and police organs at all levels have promoted their leading role in advisory work and performance of education and security education task in the areas.

Also, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of the Town have focused on improving knowledge of defence and security of cadre staff at all levels and sectors. Annually, the Town Council for Defence and Security Education works with functional organs to survey and classify groups of subjects, draw up and realize plan of the year and the term on defence and security education. Moreover, the Town has proactively made comprehensive preparations, ensuring that defence and security education work will be conducted in accordance with groups of subjects, contents, and plans. To improve the teaching quality, qualified and experienced cadres from military and police organs, and the key cadres of the Town have been selected for the teaching work. Cadres and experts from the Provincial Military Command, Military Region 7 have been invited to present specialized topics and updated news. Besides, the education program has been supplemented with topics close to its socioeconomic, defence and security situation and tasks.

The Town has added defence and security education work to the council’s sessions, conferences on civilian, administration and  party work, and training meetings for leadership and direction over ward-level defensive area exercise and security exercise. As a result, key cadres at all levels have improved their responsibility and capabilities of management for local defence and security work, being ready to respond to possible situations.

Annually, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of the Town direct the Council for Defence and Security Education, the Military Command, and the Police to prepare plans on defence and security education for pupils and students. The Town has also directed its functional organs to standardize the quality of defence and security teaching staff at high schools and vocational training schools. On the one hand, schools have drawn up training plans for their education and defence teaching staff. On the other hand, they have proactively worked with functional organs to organize defence festival contests, visits to museums, historical relics, meetings with army units stationed in the area, and talks with war veterans. Throughout those activities, pupils and students broaden their knowledge, raise their responsibility for the cause of national construction and protection and deepen their love for the Homeland.

Moreover, the Town has further disseminated knowledge about defence and security to all people and defence activities of the local armed forces in the media. A part from the column “All-People National Defence” on Newspapers and Radio and Television Stations of the Province, the Military Region, and the Central level, the People’s Committee of the Town has directed its functional organs in collaboration with the Radio Station and the Web Portal to open column on all-people national defence and security. The column would focus on the tasks of defence and security, socioeconomic development, and social evils, crime, and traffic accidents prevention and combat.

What is more, the Town has now brought into role of hamlet party committees, youth unions, labour unions in communicating with and educating workers and people from all walks of life. Also, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of the Town have directed party committees and authorities at all levels to attach great importance to improving material and spiritual life of workers and labours through various activities. As immigrant workers and labours have been cared and helped, they really see Di An as their homeland, which helps build up the faith in the Party and the State, develop the economy, strengthen the all-people defence posture, and build an increasingly robust all-people defence in the area.
