Artillery Corps focuses on improving combat strength, meeting requirements and tasks
Artillery Corps serves as the main ground firepower in our Army. Grasping that spirit, it continues to closely follow the specific functions, tasks and situations in the new circumstances, synchronously and drastically implements solutions and constantly improves its combat strength to meet requirements and tasks.
Over the past 75 years, under the leadership and direction of the Party, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, the Artillery Corps has made great strides to overcome difficulties, develop, and achieve glorious victories, significantly contributing to the great victories of the nation, firmly defending the Fatherland, thereby clearly affirming its role as the main firepower of the Army. Currently, the cause of Army building, defence strengthening and Fatherland protection poses high requirements to the corps. Thoroughly grasping and implementing the Party's strategic guidelines, directly the Resolution No. 05-NQ/TW of the Politburo (13th tenure), Resolution No. 230-NQ/QUTW of the Central Military Commission on the organisation of the Army in the period of 2021 - 2030 and beyond, the Party Committee and High Command of the corps focus on leading and directing the synchronous and drastic deployment of solutions close to the new situation, improving its combat strength with emphasis placed on the following ones:
First, stepping up consolidation and building the military artillery force "seasoned, compact and strong". This is the precondition, creating the foundation and motivation to improve the combat strength of the Artillery Corps, contributing to the development of the Army and meeting the requirements of Fatherland protection in the new conditions. Deeply grasping the resolutions and directives of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and implementing the direction of the Ministry of National Defence on developing the military artillery and missile forces, the Corps High Command actively advises and proposes the plan of restructuring artillery force to ensure appropriate strength and high combat power. Along with that, the Corps continues to advise, propose and have investments in the procurement and improvement of artillery and missile according to the Strategy on weapons and equipment of artillery force until 2025 and beyond, and the project of building the Artillery Corps in the direction of modernity; coordinates with functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defence, General Department of Defence Industry, Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, ... to research, improve, and manufacture artillery weapons and equipment.

Second, building a firm and flexible artillery posture. Sticking to the functions and tasks, the requirements of the Fatherland protection war, the Corps focuses on researching, advising, building, and preparing the arrangement of artillery force in accordance with strategic determination and combat determination in a continuous, solid, dangerous, flexible, increasingly perfect manner. Accordingly, the Corps continues to advise and coordinate to adjust the position of artillery units at all levels in accordance with the strategic determination, defence plan, situations; coordinate with military regions to arrange artillery at all levels into a continuous, solid, key and flexible position in defensive areas and directions; while, directing artillery forces at all levels to actively build and prepare combat structures; focus on: key ones; measuring, building and managing network systems and landmarks for artillery’s control; preparing and protecting the secret evacuation and concentration zones of artillery units; building a system of manoeuvre roads, logistical and technical bases in defensive areas with appropriate supply plans, etc.
Third, promoting innovation and improving the quality of combat training. The Corps Command enhances coordination and directs the artillery force of the whole army to well implement Conclusion No. 60-KL/QUTW of the Central Military Commission on continuing to implement Resolution No. 765-NQ/ QUTW on improving the quality of training in the period of 2013 - 2020 and beyond. In particular, it focuses on comprehensive training according to the prescribed content and program; strives to have as many good training artillery units as possible; attaches importance to training the entire army's artillery force to master and proficiently use all types of weapons and equipment on staff; focuses on improving the quality of practical training, night training, training in the modern war environment. Campaign artillery units and reserve artillery units are to actively participate in joint military drills, and constantly improve their levels and combat readiness.
Due to the specific features of artillery firepower, in order to meet the requirements and tasks, artillery units should thoroughly understand the view that force mobility is the basis for creating a flexible battle position, increasing combat effectiveness, and at the same time the measures to preserve forces, especially in modern warfare.
Moreover, artillery units should focus on training and applying flexible artillery tactics, suitable to the conditions of high-tech warfare conducted by the enemy, extensive electronic warfare, sophisticated cyber warfare with centralised force and automated command, etc. War-fighting training should be conducted based on the people's war and local defenisve areas; in line with the combat determination and combat plan of the commander of the combined forces, the tasks of artillery and missile forces. At the same time, it is necessary to apply appropriate types of strategic and operational combat methods, as well as combat measures and tactical forms. Fighting methods must promote the synergy of the components of artillery forces to timely and effectively support combat operations on land and at sea and attach importance to the flexible use of artillery.
Fourth, gradually automating fire preparation and command; maintaining proactive and highly ready for combat. Currently, the world's military science has seen robust developments. The combat object of artillery is highly manoeuvrable, and capable of conducting fast and accurate reconnaissance. Therefore, along with fast maneuvering and flexible combat methods,... artillery forces should employ various technical and tactical measures, in which, automation of fire preparation and command is of very importance so as to not only quickly hit the target, but also promptly move to avoid enemy fire. To do that, it is necessary to apply software to automatically calculate the firing elements and firing command that is integrated on specialised military equipment. The results of firing preparation and firing command must be automatically connected from the observatory post to the firing range. At the same time, all the steps of firing process need to be automated. Automation of firing preparation and firing command is a very complex content that requires drastic leadership and direction from all levels, coordinated researches among agencies, institutes, schools and scientists in each field to gradually realise and master the technology. This is also an important factor to improve the ability and combat readiness of the Artillery force. In addition, to maintain high combat readiness, agencies, units and localities need to regularly adjust combat plans at all levels and artillery units to suit the changes and developments of practice; hold practice and rehearsals thoroughly; seriously maintain a round the clock duty regime; proactively and flexibly handle all situations, not to be made passive or surprised. Finally, the Corps should coordinate with functional agencies and units to design, measure and thicken the landmark system for military and artillery control along the land and coastal borders; continue to consolidate, firmly and flexibly build the system of artillery combat structures on coast and near-shore islands, contributing to improving the combat readiness and firmly protecting the sea and sacred islands of the country, being worthy of the tradition of "Bronze feet, iron shoulder, good combat, accurate firing" of the Heroic Artillery troops, contributing to the successful realisation of the cause of national construction and defence.
