After 5 years implementing the Drive of “Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, deserving Uncle Ho’s soldier title”, the Army College No. 2 (also known as Nguyen Hue University) has achieved comprehensively results, making significant change in the awareness and actions of its staffs, contributing to improving the quality of education and training and building the College regular, advanced and exemplary.
As one of the key educational institutions of the Military, the Army College No. 2 has always upheld its activeness and creativeness to accomplish its educational tasks. During its task performance, the Party Committee and Headquarters have always attached importance to improving the sense of responsibility, political qualities, morality and lifestyle for its cadres, teachers and cadets in order to promote the positive, prevent the negative and make comprehensive changes in all aspects. Since the Central Military Commission issued the Directive No. 788-CT/QUTW on the implementation of the Drive of “Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, deserving Uncle Ho’s soldier title”, due attention has been paid to the work to make it a daily routine of its staff, while considering it an important solution for improving the training quality.

With strong determination of leadership and commandant at all levels, cadres, party members, and staffs of the college, the implementation of the Drive has met the set-out goals and requirements; “Uncle Ho’s soldier” virtues have been deeply imbued and become a significant motivator for each member of the college to surmount difficulties to accomplish their tasks. The college has integrated contents of the Drive into the Determine to Win Emulation movements, the implementation of the Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on further studying and following of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and style, the Central Resolution 4 (12th tenure) on Party building and rectification, etc. Besides, the College has also accelerated other emulation movements and drives, such as: “Military Youth striving for the heights”, “Say no to wrongdoings in exams and dishonest achievements in education”, “Three Reals”, etc., with good models, such as: “Model lessons”, “Model teaching week”, “Good teaching Practice”, “Good studying and disciplining practice”, “Learning method group”, etc. In addition, it has also placed emphasis on building, multiplying the role models; combined emulation with commendation to discover, honor and encourage collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in task performance. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the Drive, the College has always maintained its checking, reviewing mechanism to alleviate negative phenomena. Thanks to the right orientation, sound leadership and direction, and good ways of doing, the Drive has yielded positive results, becoming an important solution and a motivator for individuals and collectives to successfully accomplish their tasks. The spillover effect of the Drive has made concrete contribution to improving political stance, responsibility, morality for its cadres, party members, teachers and cadets; making them more proactive in their work and study; united, disciplined and enthusiastic. Almost all of them hold complete belief in the viewpoints and guidelines of the Party, laws and policies of the State, directives and resolutions of party committees at all levels. Their working styles have been improved, too. The drive has also helped making the cadres working in the departments more scientific, flexible, careful, capable, and effective. Its teaching staffs become more proactive in nurturing their methods and in scientific research; helpful and friendly to learners; the cadets become more motivated and proactive in studying and training.
After 5 years implementing the Drive, 72 collectives and 844 individuals of the College have been honored for their effort in studying and following Uncle Ho role model and promoting the tradition of “brave, creative, united, disciplined, good teaching and studying” of the College. Especially, 10 collectives and 23 individuals have been commended as outstanding role models in the 2014 - 2019 period. In 2017, its sport team ranked third in the Military-wide sport festival and ranked first among Military schools. Its English team ranked second in the Military English Olympic, etc. 167 scientific projects and initiatives have been rated outstanding. It has successfully accomplished the tasks of education and training and was awarded with the First Class National Protection Medal by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; 2 members of its staff have been awarded with the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister, and 5 collectives have been awarded with the Outstanding Unit title by the Prime Minister and the Ministry of National Defense. These achievements have contributed to improving the quality of education and training, and making the College’s Party pure and strong, and the college comprehensively strong.
In order that the Drive be further promoted, the Party Committee and Headquarters of the College focus on the following measures:
First, regularly strengthen the leadership role of the party committees in setting out the right guidelines and solutions with foci; checking and adjustment of shortcomings must be done together with the implementation of the Drive. Party committees should have the right evaluation of the result of the implementation of the Drive on a monthly, quarterly and periodically basis; new and difficult tasks, as well as the limitations should be discussed in order to have the right measures for surmounting. The guidelines and solutions stipulated in the resolutions are important premise and orientation for action and speech of cadres and party members; due supplementation should be made to the leadership guidelines and measures to make it relevant with the current situation and tasks. In addition, the results of the implementation of the Drive should be determined as one of the criteria for rating the leading capability of party committees and the task performance of each cadre, party member, cadet and soldier.

Second, strengthen education and propagation to enhance the awareness of cadres and party members of the meaning, importance and contents of the Drive. Thereby, every collectives and individuals are fully aware that the Drive is a concretion of the Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo (12th tenure); one major guideline of the Permanent Office of the Central Military Commission, not only meeting the short term demand but also holding long term meaning, directly contributing to building the College “Revolutionary, regular, advanced and exemplary”. Continue to carry out propagation, education and dissemination of Ho Chi Minh’s moral values and the contents of “deserving Uncle Ho’s soldier title” in the new situation to make it relevant to the task of each agency, unit, and individual.
Third, adhere to the instructions of upper echelons, stick to the political mission of the Military and the College to determine the appropriate and practical topic, content, goals. The contents and methods of implementation should be renewed and innovated, and the Drive should be associated with the Determine to Win Emulation movements, and other movements and campaigns of the Party, State, Military to make it attractive and engaging. Moreover, the implementation of the Drive should be combined with the implementation of the resolution of Party congress at all level for the 2020 - 2025 period, the Directive No. 05-Ct/TW of the Politburo, the Central Resolution 4 (13th tenure) and the Resolution No. 17-NQ/ĐU of the Permanent Office of the College's Party Committee on “Improving the effectiveness of political - ideological education, legal and moral education in the College”.
The recent achievements are encouraging for cadres, teachers and cadets of the Army College No.2 to continue to accelerate the Drive of “Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, deserving Uncle Ho’s soldier title”, contributing to further beatifying the image of “Uncle Ho’s soldier” in the College.
