The official visit of Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Korea Han Min-koo to Vietnam will contribute to strengthening the relationship and mutual understanding between the armies and peoples of Vietnam and Republic of Korea (RoK).

General Phung Quang Thanh, Vietnamese Minister of National Defence, made this statement at the talk with his RoK counterpart on May 28th, during his official visit to Vietnam between May 27th and 29th.
At the talks, the Vietnamese General affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting defence cooperation with RoK. Meanwhile, the guest said that the two countries share cultural and historical similarities, praised Vietnam’s increasing position in the region, and hoped to build up their bilateral relations effectively and sustainably.

Besides, they voiced pleasure at the two countries’ defence cooperation achievements over the past years, according to their memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation inked in 2010.
The two ministers agreed to heighten their defence relationship in the coming time, particularly in delegation exchanges, young officer meetings, education and training, defence strategic dialogues at the deputy ministerial level, navy, information technology, defence industry and experience sharing in carrying out UN peacekeeping operations, in order to tap all potentials of the Vietnam-RoK strategic partnership.
