Our Party, our people, our country just lost a loyal leader, an exemplary communist, with intelligence, courage, and lifetime-dedication to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause. His passing-away left us, Vietnamese people from all walks of life across the country, immense love, respect and regret!

Countless comments with respect and admiration have been expressed for his example of diligence - thrift - integrity - righteousness, his modesty, kindness, closeness, for his role model in studying and following the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh; for his courage and intelligence in innovation and creativity of an excellent theorist and politician who devoted all his life for the people and for the country!

Our cause of innovation has been being promoted and achieved great results of historical significance. Our country has never had such a fortune, potential and international position as it does today. This is attributed to the consensus and joint efforts of the entire Party, people and Military, including important contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong with his sound directions, decisions and effective leadership.

It can be said that: General Secretary, Secretary of the Central Military Commission Nguyen Phu Trong is the architect who made Vietnam’s fortune in the new era. This was manifested clearly throughout his over 55 years of work.

Possessing all the good and noble moral qualities of an exemplary communist, as the General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and the Secretary of the Central Military Commission for three consecutive terms since 2011, He made important contributions to perfecting and gradually realising the guidelines for innovation and building socialism in our country. As the core in leading, directing the work of Party building and rectification in a drastic, comprehensive, synchronous, regular and effective manner, He made important contributions to improving the Party's leadership, governance and overall quality, consolidating and strengthening the internal solidarity of the Party and the political system, strictly implementing the principles of Party building and innovating the Party's leadership style. He paid special attention to the building of a clean, strong and comprehensive Government and political system; resolutely and persistently fighting against political degradation, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party. He directed the fight against corruption and negativity resolutely, considering it a necessary and inevitable task, an irreversible trend. The results of this struggle have been praised by a large number of cadres, Party members, people, and international friends.

As an exemplary leader and an excellent political theorist, He drafted all documents of recent Party congresses, as well as resolutions and directives of the Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat. His views and thoughts were constantly improved and had profound theoretical significance in different fields and were published in valuable books about Party building and rectification, the fight against corruption and negativity, building and perfecting the socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam, building a socialist-oriented market economy, building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity, building military and defence strategies in the new period, building and developing comprehensive and modern foreign policies imbued with "Vietnamese bamboo" identity, etc.

As the Secretary of the Central Military Commission, He had regular direction and leadership of the building of military and defence strategies and required the thorough implementation of those strategies throughout the Military to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation. The breakthrough and core point in His thinking is the thought of "Protecting the independence and autonomy of the country must be associated with protecting peace", because peace is considered a sacred value "Protecting a peaceful and stable environment for the country’s development". The content of His directions was the inheritance of the tradition of the nation’s struggle to build and defend the country. At the same time, it was drawn from rich and vivid experiences, demonstrating in-depth, determination, comprehensiveness and persuasiveness. His instructions are important orientations to continue to build and perfect Vietnam's military and defence strategies to meet the requirements and tasks of building and defending the Homeland, and building Vietnam’s fortune in the new period. Besides, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also paid attention to building the People's Army and the People's Police strong and united. He used to remind the armed forces to imbibe, study and follow Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style, consider "Honour as the most sacred and noble thing", wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, “rely on the people to work”, "be truly loyal, respect and love the people", closely attach to the people, protect the interests of the people, and earn more trust and help from the people. Under the leadership of the Party, directly General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the task of building a lean, compact, strong, truly clean and strong armed force, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation has achieved important results; the Public Security and the Military are united and closely coordinated, truly the sword and shield, two wings of a bird, protecting and preserving peace and stability for the country's development.

The devotion and dedication of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the country, the people and socialism is an exemplary and shining example of bravery, revolutionary enthusiasm and pure morality, respected and admired not only by compatriots and soldiers across the country but also by world leaders and people. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called him “A pivotal figure in Vietnam’s recent history. During Trong’s tenure as President and Communist Party chief, Vietnam continued its remarkable development journey to emerge as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and an important partner for the United Nations”. The condolence message of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China read: “The Vietnamese Party leader was a staunch Marxist and a great leader of the CPV and the Vietnamese people. He dedicated his entire life to the cause of his Party and nation, making outstanding contributions to Vietnam's Doi Moi (renewal), the cause of building socialism in Vietnam as well as the socialist movement in the world”. Russian President Vladimir Putin's letter read: "Nguyen Phu Trong devoted his whole life to serving his homeland. Over the years of serving in high-responsibility state and party posts, he has earned deep respect from his compatriots and significant weight in international affairs. In Russia, he will always be remembered as a true friend, who made a great personal contribution to the establishment and development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Moscow and Hanoi”. The letter of condolence from General Raúl Castro Ruz and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez read: “Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong's life and career are a priceless legacy for future generations. His contributions to the role of the Communist Party, the creative application of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, and his vision of international relations in the current context are among his outstanding contributions to the building of socialism in Vietnam”. General Secretary of the Mexican Workers' Party (PT) Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez affirmed: “General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is not only one of the outstanding leaders of Vietnam in the past decades, but also a rare genius theorist in a historical period with many changes like today. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has highly promoted the combination of Marxism-Leninism with the revolutionary cause. His vision and leadership style are not only a guideline for the Vietnamese revolution, but also bring many valuable lessons to revolutionary movements in the world”. The New York Times on 19 July 2024 wrote: “Mr. Trong oversaw one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies and raised Vietnam’s prestige on the international stage. Under his term, the world’s major superpowers courted the country aggressively”, etc.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a great intellectual, a great talent of the Vietnamese revolution, an ideologist, a culturist, a theoretical flag bearer of the Party, an excellent student who constantly studied and followed the ideology, morality and style of the great President Ho Chi Minh, devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our nation, to the country and the people. Although he has passed away, his pure personality, devotion to the country and wise intelligence will always be an example for generations of Vietnamese people to follow.
