Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong returned to Hanoi on November 22 evening, successfully concluding his four-day State visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
During the visit from November 19, the Party leader held talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and met with President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President and Chairman of the Senate Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Speaker of the Lower House Meira Kumar , and Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid.
He also met with leaders of the Indian National Congress Party, the National People’s Party, the Communist Party of India, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Through the talks, both sides expressed their pleasure at the strong and all-round development in bilateral ties over the past time, stressing that Vietnam and India share common goals on comprehensive socio-economic development, satisfying the two peoples’ aspirations.
They affirmed that they would make every effort to deepen and intensify their bilateral strategic partnership for the benefit of the two peoples and for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
On the occasion, both nations signed eight cooperation documents in the fields of aviation, science-technology, finance, oil and gas, education and training.
