The success of the August 1945 Revolution marked a milestone in the history of national construction and protection of Vietnam, symbolising our people’s willpower, indomitable spirit, and burning desire for national independence and freedom. 80 years have elapsed, but the greatness, indomitable spirit, and shining ideal of the August Revolution always remain existent in tandem with the country’s development, laying a solid foundation for the Vietnam People’s Army to sustain its combat goal and ideal in the new era

In August 1945, under the leadership of the Party and leader Ho Chi Minh, our people conducted a General Uprising to smash the yoke of colonialism, fascism, and feudalism, establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and usher our nation into a new era - the era of national independence and socialism. In that great victory, our fledgling revolutionary armed forces played a core role in guiding and assisting the masses in rising up to seize power. Those historical lessons remain valuable in the Military’s building and fighting cause in general, the building of a modern Vietnam People’s Army in particular

Incidents, catastrophes, natural disasters, and epidemics have been posing serious challenges to all countries; therefore, every nation places a top priority on incident, natural disaster, and epidemic mitigation. As for Vietnam, incident, catastrophe, natural disaster, and epidemic prevention and mitigation have been seen as a crucial, routine task of the entire Party, Military, people, and political system from Central to grass-roots levels

On 2 and 5 August 1964, the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) cooperated with other forces in courageously fighting to win victory in the first battles. It is forever a source of pride and encouragement for generations of Naval cadres and soldiers to overcome all hardships, successfully fulfil all assigned tasks, and build an “elite, compact, strong”, modern Service worthy of its core role in firmly protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands

70 years ago, on 21 July 1954, the Geneva Accords on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam were signed, becoming a historic milestone in the country’s revolutionary diplomacy. The signing of the Geneva Accords, which mainly resulted from the Dien Bien Phu victory that “resounded across the five continents and shook the globe”, victoriously ended our country’s prolonged resistance war and completely smashed the nearly-100-year yoke of French colonialism in Vietnam

As our resistance war and national construction were riddled with ordeals 70 years ago, on the 11th of June, 1948, President Ho Chi Minh made an appeal for patriotic emulation in the spirit of “all-people resistance war, all-out resistance war….resistance war in tandem with national construction”
