Practice has proven that, since joining the ICCPR Convention in 1982, Vietnam has always strived to synchronously implement policies and solutions to ensure civil and political rights for citizens and has obtained many important and comprehensive achievements on all fronts. This is not only the obligation and responsibility of membership in the Convention, but also the consistent goal of the Party and State of Vietnam to bring a good life to the people.

Respecting and ensuring human rights are the consistent viewpoint and policy of our Party and State; which have been prescribed in the Constitution and laws of Vietnam over times; concretised in socio-economic development strategies and plans appropriate to each stage of the country's development; implemented actively and responsibly in the implementation of international obligations and commitments on human rights.
Rejecting the wrong perspectives that “The August Revolution in 1945 fails to bring about real democracy and freedom for the people”
Sunday, September 17, 2023, 22:24 (GMT+7)
The verifications from the historical witnesses and the reality of freedom in Vietnam have once again confirmed that the August Revolution in 1945 brought the real freedom for the people. The democracy and freedom have connected with the national independence and been the inevitable results of the national independence. It has definitely not a fake freedom. Presently, those values have been continuously shining in the flow of history of the nation and era. Neither any evil plots nor forces could deny the values of independence and freedom that the August Revolution in 1945 brought for the country and people of Vietnam.
Combating distortions of democracy in Vietnam

Instead of removing the CPV’s leadership, it is necessary to affirm and strengthen that leadership in practice as the key to democracy in our country. An abandonment of the CPV’s leadership and ruling role or the exercise of political pluralism will not make Vietnam more democratic, but instead put it at risk of chaos and instability like some other countries have experienced.
Rejecting the wrong perspectives on religions in Viet Nam
Wednesday, June 28, 2023, 20:25 (GMT+7)
Presently, in Viet Nam, the unanimity between religions and the State has been clearly expressed in the national solidarity including the solidarity among religions to create the strength and the decisive factor for the victory of the cause of building and safeguarding the country. This is the subjective reality which rejects the allegation that “there was no religious freedom” in Viet Nam.
Press freedom must be within the legal framework

Over the years, the press in Vietnam has always played the role as the voice of the Party and the State and the forum of the people and proactively, promptly, and effectively informed major issues of the country to clearly demonstrate the role to lead and guide public opinion and create social consensus. Vietnam's press agencies are really a bridge between the Party and the State and the People to quickly, fully, and accurately propagate the news of events, undertakings, and guidelines of the Party and policies of the State and the Government in performing two strategic tasks of building and protecting the Fatherland.

Sunday, September 18, 2022, 06:53 (GMT+7)
Since its inception and during its leadership over our country’s revolution, grounded on Marxist-Leninist viewpoints on the role of the masses as well as on the Vietnamese nation’s tradition, our Party and President Ho Chi Minh have always attached special importance to issues relating to ethnicity and national great unity and considered them as a determinant to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution.
Ridiculous distortions about democracy, human rights, and social networks in Vietnam

Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of information are considered basic principles for a democracy, even as "oxygen" in a democratic and developed society, but not recognised as an absolute right by the international community. The exercise of the right to freedom of expression comes with special obligations and responsibilities, may be subject to certain limitations set forth in law, and is necessary to respect the rights or reputations of others; protect national security or public order, the health or morals of society.
Absolute freedom of religion – an unreasonable claim
Thursday, July 29, 2021, 07:52 (GMT+7)
According to legal documents of the United Nations, although it is a basic human right, the right to freedom of belief and religion is not an absolute but a relative and limited right. This is clearly stated in Article 29 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and the Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966).
