Use of the artillery-missile force to counter enemy strategic airborne landings in strategic defensive operations in the northern theatre of war

In modern warfare, strategic airborne landings will involve use of forces on a grand scale, including both troops and heavy weapon systems, and employment of special forces as the central elements to conduct airborn operations. The balance of power is likey to favour the enemy due to their superiority in forces and weapons. The enemy can suddenly alter this balance of power in a direction of the theatre of war. Therefore, the use of artillery-missile force must thoroughly grasp the viewpoint of leveraging the overall power of people’s warfare, using the three-element artillery and missile force to strike anywhere at anytime to triumph over the enemy.

Over the past few years, on grasping and realising Directive No. 50/CT-BQP of the Ministry of National Defence (MND) on further accelerating the Campaign for “managing and exploiting weapons and technical equipment in a good, durable, safe, economical manner and traffic safety”, the GDT, which is the Standing Body of the MND’s Steering Committee 50, has actively advised the Central Military Commission (CMC) and MND to lead, direct, and directly instruct departments and units in the entire military to effectively carry out the Campaign, making significant contribution to resolution of strategic issues regarding technical equipment support for the military.

Military region defence operation is copious and diversified, which requires robust logistic support forces capable of meeting mission demands in both peacetime and wartime. Accordingly, the Military Region’s Department of Logistics must proactively calculate logistic support needs and advise the Military Region to instruct provincial, municipal military commands to work closely with departments, divisions, and sectors to formulate plans for placing and adjusting logistic forces, which helps to provide timely logistic support for many missions in many fields and on many areas.
