 Being a strategic transport unit under the Department of Transport (General Department of Logistics), the Brigade 972 is tasked with transporting logistics materials, weapons, and troops of Southern units, taking part in search and rescue and natural disaster mitigation, and maintaining readiness for performing the contingency missions assigned by higher echelons
