In 2020, defence international integration and cooperation continued to be deployed synchronously, comprehensively, achieving many positive results, successfully completing the task of preventing and fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic and the objectives and plans of foreign affairs set out for 2020, which was recognised and highly appreciated by the Party, State and the People.

In 2020, Vietnam will assume the role of ASEAN Presidency, marking 25 years of official participation in the ASEAN common home. At the same time, Vietnam will also assume the role of a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.
