According to legal documents of the United Nations, although it is a basic human right, the right to freedom of belief and religion is not an absolute but a relative and limited right. This is clearly stated in Article 29 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and the Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966).
